On this day, 84 years ago, Malcom X was born.

Having gone through a lot in his youth, he finally subscribed to membership of the then thriving Nation of Islam, led by Elijah Muhammad.

After a life-changing pilgrimage to Mecca a few years later however, he found himself questioning the very teaching of the NOI that he had so earnestly promulgated.

He came back with a new sense of what Islam is, what brotherhood means and should be and a renewed sincerity and belief in the all-encompassiveness of the prisitine Islamic faith.

His new personality however, would not last long as he was assassinated shortly after.
